Learning outcomes

  • Reconcile billed seats to identity-provider and admin-console counts.
  • Flag usage-tier crossings before they appear as unexplained variance.
  • Trace reseller credits and mid-cycle promotions to the correct period.
  • Produce a short evidence pack suitable for internal audit follow-up.

Modules

1. Invoice anatomy — SKUs, prorations, tax lines, and footnotes vendors hide.
2. Export hygiene — CSV pitfalls, timezone stamps, and duplicate guest rows.
3. Seat mapping — matching people, shared mailboxes, and bots.
4. Dormancy rules — defining “unused” without starting an org war.
5. Channel & workspace add-ons — costs that never sit on the base plan.
6. Usage tiers — WhatsApp, Zoom, and message overage patterns.
7. Reseller & multi-entity — Hong Kong billing entities and FX noise.
8. Sampling in a financial auditing app — risk-based picks over full reads.
9. Exception lists — what to escalate vs. park for next close.
10. Findings memo — tone, evidence, and ask.
11. Cadence design — monthly light pass vs. quarterly deep review.

FAQ

Do I need a specific financial auditing app license?

No. We teach workflows that transfer across common review tools. Bring whatever you already use for sampling; we will not sell you software.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not cover telecom carrier invoices or hardware handset plans. If your “communication spend” is mostly mobile contracts, this path will feel incomplete — and we will say so on the intro call.

Can our IT admin join?

Yes. Mixed finance–IT pairs usually finish seat maps faster. We recommend one finance owner remains accountable for the memo.

Recent learner notes

“Module 8’s sampling grid cut our review time, though we still struggle when the vendor changes SKU names mid-year.”

★★★★☆ · “Solid on Teams seat drift. Less depth on Discord-style community tools — fair enough given the syllabus.”
